Speaking on current social justice issues from the perspective of the birth conditions of Jesus (ethnic/religious minority, member of a disempowered social group, lower socioeconomic status, refugee status, and not “knowing in his place” according to the social and religious powers of his time.) This talk will be loosely based around Howard Thurman’s book ‘Jesus and the Disinherited.’

Poetry In The Symptoms: Decoding Adolescent Symptomatology, October 6, NMMC

This workshop at the North Mississippi Medical Center will focus on common disorders including depression, anxiety, body image/dysmorphia/eating disorders, hidden roots of esteem issues, risky behaviors, suicidal ideation, grief, trauma, anger, attachment, communication with adolescents and the family, spiritual aspects of adolescent suffering, internal dialogue, identity formation, personality development, and tips for parents and professionals.
